Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), known simply as Sunnybrook or Sunnybrook Hospital, is an academic health sciences centre located in Toronto, Ontario.[1] It is the largest trauma centre in Canada and is one of two major trauma centres in Toronto; the other is St. Michael’s Hospital. Sunnybrook is a teaching hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. The hospital is home to Canada’s largest Veterans Centre, located in the in Kilgour wing (K-Wing), and in the George Hees wing (L-Wing) of the hospital. There they care for World War II and Korean War veterans. In 2015, Sunnybrook scientists were the first in the world to successfully, non-invasively open the blood-brain barrier.[2] Dr. Andy Smith was appointed President & CEO of Sunnybrook in 2017.[3]
